A beneficiary of the Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) was repatriated to Mufulira by the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) yesterday afternoon , February 16, 2026.
This aeromedical evacuation exercise follows weeks of specialized medical care at Lusaka International Hospital.
The patient, a Mufulira resident, had been evacuated to Lusaka on January 22, 2026, for advanced management at Lusaka International Hospital.
Following the official discharge, Mr. Maybin Nkolomba, the WCFCB Director for Compliance and Compensation Services, requested the ZFDS to facilitate the patient's return home.
The evcaution was carried out using the ZFDS medical helicopter, registration 9J-KDK. The aircraft went airborne from Lusaka at 13:07 hours.
After a flight of approximately two and a half hours, the helicopter touched down at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira at 15:40 hours.
Upon arrival, the patient was safely handed over to a WCFCB representative to continue their recovery at home.
