The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) has sent out medical teams to some Provinces across the Country – Southern, Northern, Luapula, and Lusaka – to provide essential routine and specialised medical services.
The outreach program, scheduled for seven days, commences on June 2nd, 2025.
The initiative aims to bring vital healthcare closer to communities in Gwembe (Southern Province), Mungwi (Northern Province), and Luangwa (Lusaka Province).
Comprehensive Routine medical Services the ZFDS teams will offer include:
* General screening by a medical doctor,
* Dental and eye services,
* Laboratory investigations,
* Free dispensing of essential drugs,
* Free Provision of reading glasses.
The Service will be visiting the following areas:
1. The following health facilities in Luangwa District will be visited
* Luangwa Health Centre
* Mandombe RHC
* Kavalamanja RHC
* Mphuka RHC
* Chitope RHC
* Kasinsa RHC
* Sinyawagiwera RHC
2. Gwembe District (Southern Province) - Routine Services:
* Kalelezyi RHC
* Chisanga RHC
* Ntanga RHC
* Chamwe RHC
* Gulumunyanga RHC
* Sinafala RHC
* Luumbo RHC
3.Mungwi District (Northern Province) - Routine Services:
* Makasa RHC
* Ndakala Health
* Rosa RHC
* Chimba RHC
* Ndasa RHC
* Mungwi District Hospital
In Luangwa District, Lusaka Province, a specialist in Orthopaedic surgery has been deployed.
This targeted intervention comes as a direct response to a request from the District Health Office, following a notable increase in cases resulting from motorbike accidents in the area.
The Government of the Republic of Zambia and the Ministry of Health through the Zambia Flying Doctor Service continues its commitment to enhancing healthcare access and delivery, particularly in remote and underserved areas across the nation.
