The Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) has established a medical camp at Mutenguleni Village in Chipata District to provide health services during the annual Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony of the Ngoni people.
Led by Director of Legal Services and Corporate Affairs, Luyando Mbilika Shimalukwe, the ZFDS team commenced its mission with a courtesy call on the Eastern Provincial Health Office. During the meeting, she assured provincial health authorities that the team was fully prepared to deliver comprehensive medical services to the thousands of people attending the ceremony. She emphasized that the outreach forms part of ZFDS’ continued commitment to supplement Government efforts through the Ministry of Health in ensuring effective and efficient healthcare service delivery.
The team later paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness Chief Mpezeni IV at Laweni Palace, reaffirming ZFDS’ support to the Ngoni community during this significant cultural event. She conveyed goodwill messages from the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. George Ng’uni, stating:
“Our CEO deeply values the leadership of Your Royal Highness and recognizes the importance of the work taking place under your guidance.”
She further thanked His Royal Highness for his continued support to the Service during the ceremony and reaffirmed that ZFDS remains a dependable partner in strengthening healthcare service delivery within the chiefdom.
The Nc’wala Traditional Ceremony, held annually in Chipata District of Eastern Province, is a vibrant celebration of the first harvest of the year by the Ngoni people. The event attracts large crowds from across Zambia and beyond.
During the ceremony, the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) is providing free medical services led by Senior Medical Doctor, Dr. Jonathan Masalo. The services include general medical screening, eye care services, dental care, laboratory services, and pharmacy support.
These services are aimed at ensuring that attendees have access to essential healthcare throughout the festivities.
