As the world observes Cancer Awareness Month this October, the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) is strengthening its capacity to support early detection, prevention and timely referral of cancer cases.
ZFDS healthcare workers are currently undergoing a three-day in-house training in cervical cancer screening, designed to enhance practical skills in cervical sample collection, client counselling, identification of abnormal findings, documentation, referral and follow-up.
The training is being led by ZFDS Chief Nursing Officer, Florence Mambwe, with technical facilitation from Dr. Mwale Kamukwamba, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, and Ms. Mary Nedic, Trainer of Trainers in Cervical Cancer Screening.
Nurses from the Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD), and Maternal and Child Health (MCH) teams are participating in the training, which includes practical sessions.
At ZFDS, we believe that early detection saves lives. By equipping our healthcare workers with the right skills, knowledge and tools, we are strengthening preventive healthcare and advancing our commitment to bringing quality health services closer to the people.
This October, let us raise awareness, encourage screening and take action against cancer.
At ZFDS, We Care. We Listen. We Deliver.
