Three Workers’ Compensation beneficiaries have been successfully repatriated to their respective homes following specialized treatment in Lusaka, in a well-coordinated air evacuation led by the Zambia Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS).
The patients, who had been admitted to Lusaka International Hospital for further management, were discharged after showing significant improvement. Upon request, arrangements were made to return them home one to Solwezi and two to Mufulira ensuring continuity of care and the comfort of family support.
In a precisely executed operation, two aircraft were deployed from ZUZE Airstrip in the early hours of the morning.
Aircraft 9J-FDS, piloted by Deputy Director Aviation Services Patrick Kawanu with co-pilot Siphosami Zulu, departed ZFDS Hangar Yesterday at ,07:54 hours and landed ZAF Lusaka at 08:47 hours. After boarding the patients, the aircraft departed Lusaka at 10:15 hours and safely arrived in Mufulira at 11:10 hours, where the two patients were warmly received and handed over to their families.
Meanwhile, aircraft 9J-AGC, under the command of pilot Chanda Mumpangwe and co-pilot Elvis Kite, departed ZFDS Hangar at 07:59 hours and landed at ZAF Lusaka at 08:51 hours. Following patient boarding, the aircraft departed at 10:35 hours and arrived in Solwezi at 11:50 hours, where the patient was successfully handed over to family members.
Throughout the journey, paramedics Nelly Njamba and Bradley Kapuwe provided in-flight medical care, closely monitoring the patients to ensure their safety and stability.
 
This successful mission underscores ZFDS’s continued commitment to delivering patient-centered care and ensuring that no patient is left behind.
